Castle Cornet

Island. Castle Cornet is a large island castle in Guernsey, and former tidal island, also known as Cornet Rock or Castle Rock. Its importance was as a defence not only of the island, but of the roadstead. In 1859 it became part of one of the breakwaters of the Guernsey's main harbour, St Peter Port's harbour.[1]

Hauteville House

Museum in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Hauteville House is a house where Victor Hugo lived during his exile from France, located at 38 Rue Hauteville in St. Peter Port in Guernsey. In March 1927, the centenary year of Romanticism, Hugo's descendants Jeanne, Jean, Marguerite and François donated the house to the City of Paris. It currently houses an honorary consul to the French embassy at London and a Victor Hugo museum; house and garden are both open to the public.[2]

Little Chapel

The Little Chapel is situated in the Les Vauxbelets valley, Saint Andrew, Guernsey. It was created in July 1914, by Brother Déodat. He planned to create a miniature version of the grotto and basilica at Lourdes, the Rosary Basilica.[3]

Town Church

Protestant church in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Town Church is also known as the "Parish Church of St Peter Port", "Sancti Petri du Portu" and "Town Church of St Peter, Apostle & Martyr".

The earliest known religious building on the site was in 1020 with a reference to a small rectangular chapel; however, a building probably existed in the 8th century. The current building, probably started in the 13th century was completed in its current format by 1466.

The Town Church is considered the main island church so serves both the States of Deliberation and the Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey as well as the parishioners of Saint Peter Port.

The current rector is the Reverend Matthew Barrett, the mission priest is the Reverend Peter Graysmith (His wife, the Reverend Penny Graysmith became part of history by becoming the first woman to be appointed Vice-Dean in Guernsey, she was admitted during the evensong service on Sunday, 12th July 2020). The deacon is the Reverend Jill Mabire and the church wardens are Ruth Abernethy (Rector’s warden) and Mel Brown (People’s warden).

The organist, director of music and Choir master is Stephen Le Prevost who was, amongst other positions throughout his career, assistant organist at Westminster Abbey from 1991 to 2001.[4]

Saint Peter Port Harbour is located in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. It was a natural anchorage used by the Romans which has been changed into an artificial harbour that is now the island's main port for passengers. Loose cargo, liquids and gas are shipped to and from St Sampson's harbour.

Castle Cornet has formed the harbour main defence for centuries. The castle was formerly a tidal island, but since 1859 a breakwater has connected it to the enlarged harbour.[6]

St Julian's Pier

St Julian's Pier is a pier in Saint Peter Port Harbour, Guernsey.

The pier runs from the base of St Julian's Avenue, where a roundabout is now located, eastwards.

The cambridge berth is a later construction built at right angles to the pier, in a southerly direction as is the New Jetty and at the eastern extremity, the White Rock Pier.

To the north of the pier is the Queen Elizabeth II marina.[7]
