Park Dzikich Zwierząt w Kadzidłowie
Prof. Benedykt Dybowski Kadzidłowo Wild Animal Park - a zoo located in Kadzidłowo in the Pisz Forest, within the Mazurian Landscape Park, on the road between Ruciane-Nida and Mikołajki. The founder of the garden is doctor Andrzej Krzywinski, and the current director - Armin Kobus. The total area of the Park is about 100 hectares and there are more than 400 animals of more than 100 species.
The park in Kadzidłów was established in 1992 and initially served as a research deer farm. With time it expanded, taking inspiration from the German Wildpark Eekholt (German). Currently the Park runs educational trips, and is involved in scientific activities (in partial cooperation with WWF Poland) for the reintroduction of endangered species (e.g. lynx, capercaillie, black grouse, black stork) using its original method "Born to be free".
The park's patron is the naturalist Professor Benedykt Dybowski (a Siberian), who, while exiled to Siberia, contributed to the knowledge of the nature of this part of the world. As a result, Kadzidłów is also home to a group of animals from Siberia and the Far East (including Milu deer, Chinese mongrels, Dybowski's deer, raccoons and many species of pheasants).
