Botanical garden in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Southern Federal University's botanical garden is located in the North-Western part in Rostov-on-Don, in the Temernik river valley. It's the first botanical garden in the vast territory of the treeless zone in the South of Russia. There is a mineral spring called St.Seraphim of Sarov on the territory of the garden, which is presented by the Directorate of the garden as an Orthodox shrine.[2]

The Martyn Brothers House, also known as the Red Cottage, is a building in Rostov-on-Don, located at the intersection of Bolshaya Sadovaya Street and Fortress Lane. The building was built by architect Nikolai Sokolov in 1893, in the centre of the former Fortress of Saint Dimitry of Rostov. The first owner of the building was a British citizen, Ivan Romanovich Martyn. The Martyn Brothers' House has the status of an object of an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. The builing currently houses the Sholokhov Centre, part of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, and functions as an exhibition space and a venue for cultural and educational projects.[6]

Amusement park in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure is a central urban park in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov oblast, Russia, named after Maxim Gorky. It is the eldest park in Rostov-on-Don. The park was established in 1813 on the skirts of the city. Now it is located in center of Rostov-on-Don between Pushkinskaya street, Bolshaya Sadovaya street, Budyonovskiy avenue and Semashko lane. Since 1998 the park is protected as an object of cultural heritage of regional value.[8]

Bridge in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The Bridge of Aksay is a road bridge over the River Don in Rostov-on-Don. Its total span is 580 m. It was built in 1964 to form part of the 1,062 km M4 "Don" highway, with a two-lane capacity of around 7,000 vehicles per day of up to 6 tonnes per axle. In 1995, a new bridge was built to augment the existing one to accommodate a new three-lane crossing. The bridge crosses the Don 60 km from its estuary.[13]

According to the reference media about assessment immovable property, in 1911 — 1915 Serpuga Nikokhosyanovna Mnatsakanova owned the building. According to the reference media "All Rostov and Nakhchivan — on — Don for 1914", in the building the technical office Nessara was placed. Now the house consists of the trade rooms located on the first floor and inhabited, which are located on the second and third floors which considerable proportion belongs to the Rostov businessman Kurinov Alexander Gennadyevich. The building has the status of an object of cultural heritage of regional value.[17]

Monument of the Great October Revolution

Sculpture. Monument of the Great October Revolution is a bronze monument dedicated to the October Revolution and establishment of the Soviet rule in Rostov-on-Don. Sculptor V. Dubovik and architect E. Polyanskiy created design of the sculptures of three men: a soldier, a seaman and a peasant. The peasant keeps the flag flying. The seaman take purchase on a rifle. The sculptures stands on the red granitical 4.5-metre pedestal. By design, general appearance of the monument symbolize steadfastness of the triumph of the Revolution. The sculpture composition was opened in 1979. It is located at the spot where a rally for establishment of the Soviet rule in the city took place on October 26 1917. The front of the base carries a bronze plaque reminding about this event:

Crowded rally for support of the triumph of the Socialist Revolution in Petrograd and establishment of the Soviet rule in Rostov-on-Don took place here on October 26 1917.[18]

Historical landmark in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The Alexander Column is a monument erected 1894 in Nakhichevan-on-Don in Alexandrovsky Park.

The column was inaugurated on 18 September 1894 to celebrate the 25 years reign of emperor Alexander II of Russia. On the occasion the park in which the column stands was also renamed after the sovereign.

The column consists of a granite monolith upon which sits a double-headed eagle perched on a globe. On the pedestal two commemorative plaques read: ″In memory of 25 glorious year of reign of Emperor Alexander II″ and ″the Armenian community of Nakhichevan-on-Don 25·IX·1894″

After the Russian revolution the column was the only tsarist monument not to be torn down by the new authorities. They only removed the crowning double-headed eagle and the commemorative plaques on the pedestal. In 1994 the column was returned to its original state.[21]

Historical landmark in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Monument to Alexander Pushkin in Rostov-on-Don ― a statue in the center of Rostov-on-Don. It is situated at the intersection of Pushkinskaya Street and Voroshilov Avenue. The author of the monument is Gavriil Schultz. The monument was erected in 1959. Later, the square where it stands was decorated with lanterns of 19th century style. Pushkin monument is an object of cultural heritage of regional importance. It is also the first monument in Rostov-on-Don which is dedicated to literary topic.

The sculpture of the poet, designed in classical style, is made of bronze and stands on a high pedestal of red colour, which is made of granite.

In 1992, the Pushkin monument was listed to the register of architectural objects under state protection.

In 1999 the monument was renovated.

Every year on the day of his birth, which is on the six of June, residents of Rostov-on-Don and city guests lay flowers to the monument. Fans of his work gather around, and literary and poetry readings are arranged. The festivities are usually attended by representatives of associations of writers, members of public institutions in the field of culture, and high school students.

Monument to the renowned poet and writer appeared in the city for a reason. Pushkin visited Rostov-on-Don in 1820. During this time he was making a trip to the Caucasus, accompanied by General of the cavalry Nikolay Raevsky, who also was a hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 and a friend of the poet. During this journey the writer developed an interest in the history of the reign of Peter I and Catherine II, and uprisings led by Stepan Razin and Emelyan Pugachev. About these topics he wrote his most important works. The image of Rostov, the manners of its inhabitants made an impression on young Pushkin, who before had only been common to metropolitan community, and it also left a certain mark on his works.[34]

Rostov TV tower is the standard television and broadcasting tower of the project 3803 KM located in Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don on Barrikadnaya Street. The TV tower is the highest construction in Rostov-on-Don. Its height is 195 meters. In an area of coverage of her transmitters there is a considerable part of the Rostov agglomeration by the population of 2,2 million people.
