The Bacolod Public Plaza, officially the Plaza del 6 de Noviembre, named after the day of the Spanish surrender of Negros Island to the Negros revolutionaries, is one of the notable landmarks of Bacolod, the capital of Negros Occidental, Philippines. It is located in the heart of the downtown area, near the old city hall and across from the San Sebastian Cathedral. The plaza is a trapezoidal park with a belt of trees around the periphery and a gazebo at the center. Scattered within the trees are four circular fountains.[3]

Historical landmark in Bacolod, Philippines. The Fountain of Justice is a historic landmark in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines. It marks the location where the house of Jose Ruiz de Luzurriaga used to stand. It was in this house that the surrender of Bacolod by Spanish authorities to the Filipino forces of General Aniceto Lacson took place on November 6, 1898, during the Negros Revolution. Luzurriaga acted as mediator between the two belligerents. Colonel Isidro de Castro, Spanish governor of Negros, signed the surrender document on behalf of the Spanish forces. The landmark now lies in front of the old Bacolod City Hall.

The plaza and fountain area is also a place for recreation, political, spiritual and cultural activities and is illuminated at night. The fountain is a meeting place for rallies and protesters of many organizations, private, public and labor movements and political sectors. The fountain was the site of the celebration of the 66th Charter Anniversary of Bacolod City.[6]

It is part of the metropolitan area called Metro Bacolod, which includes its neighbors Silay to the north and Bacolod to the south. It has a total land area of 20,118 hectares (49,710 acres).

Talisay is often confused with another Visayas city also named Talisay, which is a component city in Cebu.[8]

Private university in Bacolod, Philippines. The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, is a private, Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution administered by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines. It was founded in 1941.

The UNO-Recoletos College of Arts and Sciences was granted Level III accreditation by the Philippines Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). Moreover, the College of Engineering and College of Information Technology were granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the distinction as Centers of Development and Excellence in their Electrical Engineering and Information Technology courses, respectively.

Also, the CHED, through the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) proposals, funded an e-Learning for agriculture education project. This project is called the Recoletos Online Learning Extension (ROLEx) administered by the agriculture Program of the College of Arts and Sciences.[9]
