Muzeum Pogranicza Śląsko-Łużyckiego
Museum of the Silesian-Lusatian Borderland in Żary - a museum based in Żary. The institution is a municipal organizational unit.
Traditions of the museum in Zary date back to the end of the 19th century when the Zary Historical Society organized the first permanent exhibition in 1888. In 1930 the collections were moved to the Bilberstein castle. During World War II, despite the bombardment of the castle in 1944, the museum collections were secured. The entry of the Red Army to the town and the activity of looters led to looting of the exhibits (a small part of them was taken to the museum in Nowa Sol).
The currently existing museum was established in 2013, based on the Cabinet of the City, operating since 2005. Ultimately, it will be housed in the former archive building at 2 Plac Kardynała Wyszyńskiego.
There are exhibitions concerning archaeological excavations in the town and its surroundings and dedicated to the local industry. The exhibits illustrate the development of local lignite mining, glass and porcelain production and brewing. Moreover, the collection includes numerous postcards, maps and plans of the town. On the other hand, in the building of the Town Public Library (Wroclawska 11 Street) there is an exposition concerning the history of the Żary garrison from 1945 to 2001.
The museum is a year-round facility, open except Mondays. Admission is free.

Ławeczka Georga Philippa Telemanna
Georg Philipp Telemann Bench in Żary - a memorial bench located in the Town Square, next to the Town Hall, in front of the Żary Art Exhibition Hall.
It was unveiled on April 17, 2010 and was created by Marek Szala from Zakopane in cooperation with Kazimierz Polak from Żary. It depicts the composer playing the violin. It commemorates the stay of one of the most eminent composers of the German Baroque, who at the invitation of Count Erdmann II von Promnitz came from Leipzig to Żary in 1704 and stayed there until 1708, conducting the court orchestra. Polish motifs appear in Telemann's works composed during this period.
The facility was built on the initiative of Żary authorities on the occasion of the town's 750th anniversary, as part of the Telemann in Żary project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
