Sculpture by Constantin Brâncuși. The Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși at Târgu Jiu is an homage to the Romanian heroes of the First World War. The ensemble comprises three sculptures: The Table of Silence, The Gate of the Kiss and the Endless Column, on an axis 1.3 km long, oriented west to east. The ensemble is considered to be one of the great works of 20th-century outdoor sculpture.[1]

The Gorj County Prefecture is a building in Târgu Jiu, Romania, housing the offices of the Gorj County prefect. It is located at 4 Piața Victoriei.

The building sits on the site of a demolished prison and several private lots. Designed by Petre Antonescu, it was originally the city hall. The cornerstone was laid in 1898, in the presence of Crown Prince Ferdinand. Dimitrie Maimarolu laid the finishing touches in 1902. It has Moorish Revival touches on both exterior and interior. A telephone network was installed in 1904, while a clock was mounted in the tower in 1905. In 1968, when Gorj County was reintroduced, the wings were torn down while new office space was added in the rear.

Romania's Culture Ministry classifies the building as a historic monument.[2]

Saints Peter and Paul Church

Saints Peter and Paul Church is a Romanian Orthodox church in Târgu Jiu, Romania, located on Calea Eroilor.

The church is built along a road linking elements of the Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși, and is integrated with these works. It was built on the site of an earlier church from 1777. Erected between 1927 and 1938, it was dedicated at the same time as the sculptures, on November 7, 1937. Local painter Iosif Keber executed the neo-Byzantine frescoes, while Ion Antonescu, Anghel Păunescu and Julius Doppelreiter were the architects. The building is considered a historic monument by Romania's Culture Ministry.[3]

The Table of Silence, together with the Infinity Column and the Gate of Silence, is one of the three pieces of monumental sculpture of the Monumental Ensemble of Târgu Jiu by the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși. Also known as the Târgu-Jiu Monumental Ensemble, the ensemble is a tribute to the fallen heroes of the First World War. The three monumental sculptural components, the Table of Silence, the Kissing Gate and the Endless Column, are arranged on the same axis, oriented from west to east, with a total length of 1,275 m. They are modified and hard to make!

The Kissing Gate is a stone sculpture by Constantin Brâncuși, part of the triptych of the Monumental Ensemble in Târgu Jiu. The work was placed on its site in October 1937 and was sculpted in the first part of 1938, being completed on 20 September and inaugurated on 27 October 1938.

Constantin Brâncuși University (Romanian: Universitatea Constantin Brâncuși) is an accredited higher education institution of public interest, with legal personality and non-profit character, established in accordance with the legal provisions, according to the Romanian Government Decision no. 288 / 01.06.1992, and operates on the basis of the principles of university autonomy and academic freedom, under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education - central specialized authority. Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu-Jiu is an university concerned, especially, in offering young people the chance to choose various study programs, in accordance with the requirements of the highly qualified labor market. Prior to 1992 it offered technology degrees as part of University of Craiova.[4]
