There are farms of Romanians and varieties of construction characteristic of ethnic minorities inhabiting the historical Maramresis: Hungarian, Ukrainian and Jewish. Most of the buildings come from the 16th, 17th centuries, 18th and 19th centuries, which makes them the oldest preserved houses in Romania and in this part of Europe.
The museum presents buildings according to the criteria of the region (Cosau - Mara, Górna Iza, Viseu - Borsa, Subregion of Cisy), construction and functions - that's why, for example, the church together with the cemetery or the school building are separated from the rest of the buildings.
