The basilica was built between 1752 and 1780, and was designed by Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca (1691-1757). After the death of the first architect, construction was completed by the Viennese Franz Anton Hillebrandt and the church was adorned with baroque decorations of Austria.[3]

The City Hall in Oradea is a building located on the northwest side of the Central Square. It was erected between 1902-1903 according to the plans of architect Kálmán Rimanóczy. The palace stands on the former site of the 18th century Catholic bishopric. A special feature is the asymmetry of the building plan, combining eclectic and Renaissance styles.
The building is provided on the side facing the Crișul Repede with a 50 m high clock tower. In 1944 the original roof burned down in the battles for the conquest of the city by the Romanian-Soviet troops.
