Lembeck Castle is a moated castle in the urban area of Dorsten on the border of the northern Ruhr region and southern Münsterland. It stands in the Hohe Mark Nature Park surrounded by the forests "Der Hagen" and "Kippheide" south of the Dorsten district of Lembeck in the northwest of the district of Recklinghausen.
The castle name "Lembeck" is derived from Low German. The root word "beke" means "flowing water" or "brook". The determiner, which is linguistically related to "loam" and "glue", stands for "slimy". Thus, Lembeck can be translated as Lehmbach, which indicates the former location of the castle in the middle of a swamp and bog area.
