The local history museum Unser Fritz is one of the three locations of the Emschertal Museum for the social history of Herne and Wanne-Eickel. It was established as a local history museum in the year of the founding of the town of Wanne-Eickel. After changing locations several times, it is now housed in the former elementary school of the now Herne district of Unser Fritz.

Power station in Herne, Germany. Herne power plant is a coal-fired power plant located at Herne in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was constructed in 1962. The installed capacity of the plant is 950 megawatts. The power plant is owned and operated by Evonik Steag GmbH, a subsidiary of Evonik Industries.

In the 1980s, a fourth unit was added to the three older blocks. During this construction the high, 300 metre tall chimney and the large cooling tower, whose shape is present in the picture of the power station, were built. The power station annually produces approx. 5.2 billion kWh electrical power and 800 million kWh of long-distance heating. Annual coal consumption amounts to approx. 2 million tons.[3]

Christuskirche Wanne

The Christuskirche is a Protestant church in the Wanne district of the city of Herne, at Hauptstraße 245. The neo-Gothic style building was built in 1886 and 1887 according to a design by the architect Gerhard August Fischer from Barme. Fischer had previously been responsible for several new church buildings in neighboring Bochum and for the church of St. Boniface in Herne, of which only the tower remains after severe war damage. In 1895/1896, he was also responsible for the construction of the new St. John's Lutheran Church in Eickel.

The Christuskirche and the associated vicarage (location) were entered in the list of monuments of the city of Herne on April 10, 1987 (Monument No. A 24) as a listed building within the meaning of the NRW Monument Protection Act.
