Museum in Indian Lake, New York. Adirondack Experience, located on NY-30 in the hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake in Hamilton County, New York, is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Adirondacks. The museum is located on the site of an historic summer resort hotel, the Blue Mountain House, built high above Blue Mountain Lake in 1876 by Miles Tyler Merwin, that operated until the late 1940s. The museum consists of 23 buildings, 121 acres, and 60,000 square feet of exhibition space. The opening of a brand new 19,000 square foot exhibition, Life in the Adirondacks, took place July 2017.

Adirondack Experience is open late-May to mid-October.

The museum's collections include historic artifacts, photographs, indigenous arts, archival materials, and fine art documenting the region's past in twenty-four buildings including historic structures and contemporary galleries. The museum offers special events, traditional workshops, demonstrations by artisans-in-residence, and school field trips (free for schools in the Adirondack Park). The museum contains a research library which is accessible year-round; its publication program has produced 65 books of Adirondack history, art histories, and museum catalogs.[1]

Lake in New York State. Blue Mountain Lake is a 1,334-acre lake in Hamilton County in the central Adirondacks. Blue Mountain Lake is the eastern end of the Eckford chain of lakes. It is located west of Blue Mountain. The hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake lies on its southeastern shore and the Adirondack Museum looks down from high above its eastern shore. It has been a popular vacation destination since the mid-19th century.[2]

Church of the Transfiguration

Church. Church of the Transfiguration is a historic Episcopal church located at Blue Mountain Lake in Hamilton County, New York. It is a small, one story, gable roofed structure with a central belfry at the west end. The building was built in 1885 and is constructed of barked spruce logs, mitred at the corners, and set upon a high foundation of random fieldstone. The church features Tiffany glass windows and a Meneely bell donated by Mrs. Levi P. Morton wife of future Vice-President under Benjamin Harrison.

It was designed by Manley N. Cutter and built by Thomas Wallace. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.[3]

Housing. Blue Mountain House Annex, also known as The Log Hotel, is a historic hotel located on the grounds of the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake in Hamilton County, New York, USA. It was built in 1876 and is a two-story structure built of square-hewn spruce logs with halved log cornering. It features a verandah on the south and east. It is one of the earliest and best known of the Adirondack resort hotels.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.[4]
