Museum in Italy. Villa Monastero is located in Varenna, Province of Lecco, on the shore of Lake Como. The villa lies south of the village, halfway between Varenna and Fiumelatte, and includes a botanical garden, a museum, and a convention center. The villa hosts summer courses for the "Enrico Fermi" International School of Physics, and has heard lectures by more than thirty-four Nobel Laureates.^[1]

River. Fiumelatte is a river in northern Italy. It flows from a cavity in the Grigna into Lake Como, just south of Varenna, it has an approximate length of 250 m. The name Fiumelatte, composed from fiume and latte, is due to the milky white color of its water.^[2]

Castle in Italy. Castello di Vezio is a castle located nearby Varenna and Perledo, northern Italy. Characterized in the main tower by square merlons, similar to Cly Castle in Aosta Valley, it commands the Lake Como. It was once connected by walls to the village of Varenna below.^[3]

Museum

The church of St. John the Baptist is a religious building, probably dating back to the 11th century, located in Varenna, in the province of Lecco, in the central Piazza San Giorgio, on the opposite side from the church of San Giorgio. According to some, it would have served in the past as the original seat of the parish of Varenna.
