Naturama is the name of Svendborg's natural history museum. From its opening on 2 June 1935 until January 2005, it was called the Zoological Museum.

Naturama exhibits a large collection of stuffed animals on water, on land and from the air. The animals are mainly from the North and the Arctic, such as whales, polar bears, foxes and owls. There are regular special exhibitions on natural history, for example on dinosaurs in 2019 and invasive animal species in 2020.

Naturama has biologists and nature guides who research, communicate and teach about nature. Among other things, research is carried out on the hazel mouse, which lives on South Funen, one of the few places in Denmark.

On 30 April 2003, construction of a new exhibition building began and on 3 September 2003, Queen Margrethe and Prince Consort Henrik laid the foundation stone. On 18 April 2005, the new exhibition building was inaugurated, increasing the museum's surface area from 700 m² to 4,200 m².

Secondary school in Svendborg, Denmark. Svendborg Gymnasium & HF is one of the largest Upper Secondary Schools in Denmark with 1,000 students and 100 teachers. The school has two academically oriented general upper secondary programmes:

  • the 3-year Upper Secondary School Leaving Examination (STX) and
  • the 2-year Higher Preparatory Examination Course (HF)

Both programmes prepare pupils for further studies and, at the same time, they develop the pupils' personal and general competence. The programmes aim to enhance the pupils' independent and analytical skills as well as preparing them to become democratic and socially conscious citizens with a global outlook. The programmes comprise a wide range of both compulsory and optional subjects at different levels. The curriculum and examinations must follow national standards and are subject to external evaluation. Apart from subject-specific oral and written examinations, students must also prepare one or two major written assignments.

Admission requirements for STX are 9 years of basic school as well as certain subject requirements. For HF, admission requirements are 10 years of basic school or the equivalent thereof. STX is for those aged 16–19, whereas HF attracts both young people and adults.[4]
