Råbjerg Mile
Enormous sand dune, popular with hikers. Råbjerg Mile is a migrating coastal dune between Skagen and Frederikshavn, Denmark. It is the largest moving dune in Northern Europe with an area of around 2 km2 and a height of 40 m above sea level. It is also the only major stretch of migrating dunes in Denmark. The dune contains a total of 4 million m3 of sand. The wind moves it in a north-easterly direction up to 18 metres a year. The dune leaves a low, moist layer of sand behind it, trailing back westwards towards Skagerrak, where the Mile originally formed more than 300 years ago. Over 250,000 people visit the dune every year.[1]
Aggersborg
10th-century Viking fortress site. Aggersborg is the largest of Denmark's former Viking ring castles, and one of the largest archaeological sites in Denmark. It is located near Aggersund on the north side of the Limfjord. It consists of a circular rampart surrounded by a ditch. Four main roads arranged in a cross connects the castle center with the outer ring. The roads were tunneled under the outer rampart, leaving the circular structure intact.
The ring castle had an inner diameter of 240 metres. The ditch was located eight metres outside of the rampart, and was approximately 1.3 metres deep. The wall is believed to have been four metres tall. The rampart was constructed of soil and turf, reinforced and clad with oak wood. The rampart formed the basis for a wooden parapet. Smaller streets were located within the four main sections of the fortress.
The modern Aggersborg is a reconstruction created in the 1990s. It is lower than the original fortress.[2]
Jammerbugt Municipality
Municipality in Vendsyssel, Denmark. Jammerbugt Municipality is a municipality in the North Jutland Region on the North Jutlandic Island. It is located along the coast of Skagerrak to the north and the Limfjord to the south. It borders the municipalities of Thisted, Vesthimmerland, Aalborg, Brønderslev and Hjørring.
Jammerbugt Municipality was formed during the municipal reform of 2007, when the municipalities of Brovst Municipality, Fjerritslev Municipality, Pandrup Municipality and Aabybro Municipality were merged.
Since the municipality's foundation in 2007 the mayor has been Mogens Christian Gade of the Venstre party. Mogens Christian Gade was also the mayor of Brovst Municipality since 2002 and until it was dissolved in 2007.
The name of the region, the Jammerbugt, translating to the Bay of Woe, was originally given due to the numerous shipwrecks laid there.
The municipality include the uninhabited islands of Fruensholm and Troldholme.[3]

Råbjerg kirke
Råbjerg Church is located in Vendsyssel, and probably built in 1220-1300 at the transition from Romanesque style to Gothic. There is very little settlement in the area.
The church is built of monks' stone on a sill of rough boulders. In 1865, an altarpiece was placed on the ceiling, a remnant of which is believed to be the figural board now seen in the church. A painting of the Crucifixion, which was of dubious quality, replaced the altarpiece painted in 1897 by Niels Anker Lund with the motif Jesus forgives sinners.
Vendsyssel Historical Museum has taken over a 60 cm high sculpture from the church, depicting a mother with her child on her arm. The child is wearing a bishop's hat. The figure is Saint Servatius and his mother Memelia. In the 300s he was bishop of Maastricht, and in medieval legends he was described as the grandson of Esmeria or Emerentia, a sister of the Virgin Mary's mother Anna. Among the furnishings in Råbjerg Church is a representation of Anna the third (i.e. grandmother Anna, Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus), Mary Cleophas (mother of the sons of Zebedee) and Mary Salome (mother of Judas Thaddaeus). In the Middle Ages these were interpreted as belonging to the Holy Family, and the figures in Råbjerg Church may have formed a single altarpiece.
The singer Aksel Schiøtz is buried in the north-western corner of the cemetery. Resistance fighter and businessman Ole Lippmann is also buried in the cemetery.

Kvissel Kirke
Kvissel Church, consecrated 23 November 1919, located in Kvissel, about 10 km west of Frederikshavn.
When the foundation stone was laid on 30 August 1918, the newspaper Vendsyssel Tidende read: "The foundation stone of Kvissel Church was laid today by the Bishop of Aalborg Diocese, Chr. Ludwigs. Despite the stormy weather, 300 people had gathered at the church square, where the new church will have such a beautiful location as few churches in Vendsyssel. The church hill, 35 metres above sea level, is situated above the small station town, and its edge can be clearly seen from Frederikshavn to Skagen.
Beyond the large plain to the north is the large stretch of marshland, from which the churches of Jerup, Aalbæk and Sørig emerge. The sun shines on the white Raabjerg mils, which are also clearly visible, and at the very tip you can see the church in Skagen and the lighthouse on Grenen.
To the east, the sun shines on the old church in Elling, the one of the region's churches that the new church will most resemble. Behind Elling church you can see Hirtsholmene, and to the south and west Flade and Tolne hills form the boundary of the magnificent view.
Today, 2005, you can't see that far, as the vegetation in Kvissel and the rest of Vendsyssel has changed.
