Carl-Henning Pedersen og Else Alfelts Museum
Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelts Museum is an art museum in Birk outside Herning. It was inaugurated in 1976 and contains more than 4,000 works by Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt. Most of the works come from a gift letter issued by Carl-Henning Pedersen when the museum was founded.
In addition to showing works from the museum's own collections, special exhibitions are organised with other artists associated with the COBRA movement.
The museum is housed in a circular building, the outside of which is covered with a 90-metre-long ceramic frieze by Carl-Henning Pedersen. The architectural firm C. F. Møller, after C.Th. Sørensen's idea, was responsible for the architectural design of the museum.
The building is linked to the existing building, the circular former Angli factory, which today houses the Herning Art Museum and the circular sculpture park (both from 1965). In 1992-93, the museum was extended with an extension in the shape of a three-sided prism, one side of which is made of glass, while the other two are covered with blue ceramic tiles painted by Carl-Henning Pedersen.
