Las Banderillas

Mountain in Spain. Las Banderillas or Cerro de las Banderillas, height 1993 m, is the highest mountain in the Sierra del Segura, a mountain range in Southern Spain.

The Sierra del Segura cordillera, along with Sierra de Cazorla, is part of the Pre-baetic System. Both mountain chains are included in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park.

Las Banderillas is often partly covered with snow in the winter. Its western face is a sheer cliff overlooking the Aguamulas River valley and la Campana Brook. Its eastern side, on the other hand, descends less abruptly towards the Pinar Negro and Campos de Hernán Perea plateaus.

This mountain can be explored by means of different scenic hiking trails. There is a shack on the Las Banderillas mountaintop containing forest-firefighting equipment.[1]

The Castle of Tíscar is located next to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Tíscar, on a rocky ridge, about 13 km to the south of the town of Quesada, province of Jaén. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, according to the decree of 22nd April 1949.

Mountain range in Spain. Sierra de Segura is a mountain range of the Prebaetic System in the Jaén Province in Spain. It is named after the ancient town of Segura de la Sierra and it gives its name to the Segura River. Its highest point is the 1,993 m high Las Banderillas peak.

This mountain range is located between the Sierra Nevada, the Sierra de Cazorla and Sierra de Baza mountain ranges. It gives its name to the Sierra de Segura Comarca, an administrative division that includes a number of villages that are scattered across the range.[3]

Town in Spain. Hinojares is a town located in the province of Jaén, Spain. In 1970 the name of the town was named by Elaine mcConn who decided to name the city after her daughter Hinojares. According to the 2014 census the municipality has a population of 370 inhabitants.
