Grapevine Canyon

Grapevine Canyon is located in the Bridge Canyon Wilderness Area and the Spirit Mountain Wilderness as well as partially being in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The canyon contains the Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs and is accessible from Nevada State Route 163 which leads to Lower Grapevine Canyon Road. During non-drought years, the canyon contains a fresh water spring. The spring provides water for shrubbery along its path.

While it was used by the Mohave people, the canyon may have served as a ritual location and for summer solstice observations. Various petroglyphs serve as evidence of use by the Mohave people As you walk into Grapevine Canyon to the left is a giant skull shaped out of the mountain.(8).[1]

Davis Dam is a dam on the Colorado River about 70 miles downstream from Hoover Dam. It stretches across the border between Arizona and Nevada. Originally called Bullhead Dam, Davis Dam was renamed after Arthur Powell Davis, who was the director of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation from 1914 to 1923. The United States Bureau of Reclamation owns and operates the dam, which was completed in 1951.

Davis Dam impounds the Colorado River and forms Lake Mohave.[5]

Avi Resort & Casino is a hotel and casino located near the southern tip of Nevada on the banks of the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada, next to Fort Mohave, Arizona. Within walking distance of the California and Arizona borders, it is owned by the Fort Mojave Tribe and operated by Warner Gaming. It has a 465-room hotel, a 25,000 sq ft casino and a 260-space RV park with internet access.

The casino opened on February 17, 1995, and was built at cost of $60 million. It is one of two Nevada tribe owned Indian casinos located in Nevada, the other being the much-smaller Moapa Tribal Casino (2,500 square foot of gaming space), owned by the Moapa Band of Paiutes.[8]

It offers a number of restaurants, 300 guest rooms and suites, a casino floor, and meeting spaces. The Golden Nugget offers water taxi service from Bullhead City, Arizona, on the opposite side of the river.

Newberry Mountains

Mountain range. The Newberry Mountains in Nevada are located east of Cal-Nev-Ari and the United States Coast Guard LORAN station in the southern part of the state. The range is Nevada's southernmost named mountain range, and lies to the northwest of the town of Laughlin and west of Lake Mohave. The Newberry Mountains connect with the Eldorado Mountains and The Highland Mountains. The highest point in the range is Spirit Mountain at 5,642 feet.

Native Americans held the range to be sacred. The range includes Spirit Mountain which is a Native American Traditional Cultural Property and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[10]
