El Caletón

El Caletón is a bathing area, consisting of several pools of natural origin, located in the municipality of Garachico on the Spanish island of Tenerife. Next to the pools is the Castillo de San Miguel.

The pools were formed by lava from the eruption of the Trevejo volcano in 1706. When it came into contact with sea water, the lava solidified, giving rise to whimsical and beautiful shapes.

The Church of Santa Ana is the main church in Garachico, Tenerife. It is located next to the Plaza de la Libertad. Originally constructed around 1520, it was rebuilt after the volcanic eruption of 1706.[1]

Island. Roque de Garachico is a small island or roque located 300 metres off the north coast of the island of Tenerife belonging to the municipality of Garachico. It stretches 284 metres north-south, and is up to 169 metres wide, with an area of five hectares. It emerges steep out of the sea, with nearly vertical walls of rock in places, and reaches a height of 77 metres. The area was protected in 1987.[2]
