Historic building with viewing platform. Beppu Tower is a 100-metre-tall lattice tower located in Beppu, Ōita, Japan. Initially built to help boost tourism in the area, today the tower is primarily used as TV transmission tower. It has an observation deck at a height of 55 metres.[2]

Hot spring in Japan. Beppu Onsen is a group of hot springs in the city of Beppu, Ōita in Japan. Beppu Onsen is divided into eight major hot spring areas known as "Beppu Hatto".

The most significant characteristic of Beppu's hot springs is the richness of its resources. The volume of water discharged is second only to that of the Yellowstone National Park in the United States.

There are 2,909 hot spring vents within the city, and these account for more than 10% of the 27,644 hot spring vents in Japan, according to a survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment in 2004. Statistics from the Beppu City Hall show that more than 130,000 tons of hot spring water gushes from the ground every day. This is the second largest amount of hot spring water discharge in the world, and the largest amount in Japan.[3]

University in Beppu, Japan. Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, commonly referred to as APU, is a university in Japan. Ritsumeikan APU was established in April 2000 in Beppu, Ōita, Japan. APU was created through the collaboration of three parties from the public and private sectors: Ōita Prefecture, Beppu City and the Ritsumeikan Trust.

The university has an enrollment of about 5,850, including approximately 2,900 domestic, and 2,900 international students (a 50–50 domestic-international ratio) originating from 90 countries and regions. Half of the 172 full-time faculty members are also foreign nationals who come from more than 30 countries and regions.[5]

Yufuin Onsen is a hot spring located in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture. It is a hot spring resort located at the foot of Mt.

The area boasts an abundance of hot springs, ranking second in Japan in both volume and number of sources, and was designated as a national recreational hot spring resort on May 5, 1959 as "Yufuin Hot Springs" along with Yudaira Hot Springs, and on October 4, 2019 was expanded and designated as "Yufuin Hot Springs Village" including Tsukahara Hot Springs, Shonai Hot Springs, and Hasama Hot Springs in Yufu City.

Tourist attraction in Beppu, Japan. The Beppu Ropeway is a Japanese aerial lift line in Beppu, Ōita. This is the only line operated by Beppu Ropeway, a subsidiary of the Kintetsu Group. Opened in 1962, the line climbs Mount Tsurumi near the Beppu onsen hot spring resort. The mountain is most famous as one of the few hard rime sights in Kyūshū. The line operates the whole year.[6]
