Norrköping Synagogue

Norrköping Synagogue is a historic synagogue in located in the Nordantill borough, Norrköping, Sweden.

In accordance with the statute from 1782, Norrköping along with Stockholm and Gothenburg became the only cities where Jews were permitted to settle permanently at that time. A previous smaller synagogue had been built in 1790s, funded by the German-Jewish merchant Jacob Marcus. The current synagogue was built between 1855 and 1858 in a neoclassical manner based on designs made by the architects Edvard Medén and Carl Stål.[1]

Museum in Norrköping, Sweden. The Museum of Work is a museum located in Norrköping, Sweden. The museum is located in the Strykjärn, a former weaving mill in the old industrial area on the Motala ström river in the city centre of Norrköping. The former textile factory Holmens Bruk operated in the building from 1917 to 1962.

The museum documents work and everyday life by collecting personal stories about people's professional lives from both the past and the present. The museum's archive contain material from memory collections and documentation projects.

Since 2009, the museum also houses the EWK — Center for Political Illustration Art, which is based on work of the satirist Ewert Karlsson (1918 — 2004). For decades he was frequently published in the Swedish tabloid, Aftonbladet.[2]

Louis De Geer Concert & Congress is a concert hall and convention center located in Norrköping, Sweden. Aside from being the home of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the facilities regularly house various conventions.

It was named after Walloon-Dutch industrialist Louis De Geer (1587–1652). Louis De Geer came to Sweden in 1627 and settled in Norrköping. De Geer established a formidable workshop industry and received a monopoly on the copper and iron trade.

The building that is now Louis De Geer Concert & Congress was first erected in 1954 as a paper mill. It was originally designed by architect Ivar Tengbom (1878–1968). Paper production ceased in 1986. The architects of the concert hall made a point of preserving the industrial character.[3]

Museum in Sweden. Lövstad Castle is a château situated near Norrköping, the province of Östergötland, Sweden. The name is sometimes spelled Löfstad, which is according to old Swedish spelling rules.

Lövstad originated in the 15th century, but the present building was erected in the 17th century by Axel Lillie (1603–1662). It came to the von Fersen family through Hedvig Catharina De la Gardie (1695–1745) who was the heir of her mother Hedvig Catharina Lillie (1695-1745) and to the Piper Family through Countess Sophie Piper (1757–1816), wife of Chamberlain Adolf Ludwig Piper (1750–1795) and sister of Count Axel von Fersen (1755–1810).

The present interior remained intact until the death of the last owner, Emilie Piper (1857-1926). Lövstad came under the ownership of the Östergötlands museum in 1940. The castle was opened to the public in 1942. Lövstad is today a museum open with guided tours.[5]

Church of Saint Bridget

The Church of Saint Bridget is the name given to a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church works as a parish in Norrköping, a city in the province of Östergötland in Sweden. The congregation belongs to the Diocese of Stockholm.

The Catholic priest Bernard zu Stolberg was installed in 1897 in Norrköping, with the aim of building a church. Stolberg was the parochial vicar in the period between 1897 and 1925.

In 1903 he established a chapel in Skolgatan 24. That the Catholic chapel stood for 25 years. The Church of St. Brigid was consecrated only in 1928. In 1939, the parish was officially recognized. The building consists of two ships with 153 seats. The exterior has a marble facade.[7]

Östra Eneby socken

Östra Eneby socken is a former socken of Bråbo Hundred in Östergötland, Sweden. It was formerly a separate parish in Brabo County of Östergötland and the Linköping diocese, in southern Sweden, but in 1916, it was incorporated into the city of Norrköping and became one of the city's parishes.

In 1920, it began to be called Norrköping Östra Eneby Assembly. Early, it had tram connections to East Eneby and even now turning line 2 at the parish church begun in the 12th century. Surrounding the well-preserved early medieval church, with murals, are older school buildings and two mid-19th century manbyggnader - a parsonage and Eneby Norrgård.

In Östra Eneby is also the Eneby center and a school including high school classes, named Eneby School. Within the parish, a major part of the Swedish rock carvings are concentrated, particularly in Himmelstalund.

Johannisborg

Johannisborg is the ruin of a fortification located in Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County, Sweden. The foundations for Johannisborg dates to 1614. The fortifications were largely finished in 1618. The architect of the project was Flemish architect Hans Fleming. When Russians invaded in 1719, Johannisborg was burned down.[10]
