Historical place museum in New Iberia, Louisiana. Shadows-on-the-Teche is an American 3,750 square feet historic house, garden, and cemetery. Formerly a working sugar cane plantation with enslaved labor, it is located in New Iberia, Louisiana, United States. Built in 1834 for planter, David Weeks and his wife Mary Conrad Weeks. The property is also home to the Shadows-on-the-Teche cemetery.

This is a National Historic Landmark since 1974 and is currently owned and operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.[1]

The Joseph Jefferson House, also known as the Rip Van Winkle House and Gardens and the Bob Acres Plantation, is a historic house built in 1870 on Jefferson Island in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. The Joseph Jefferson House was built in 1870 for Joseph Jefferson, an American stage and silent film actor.

The house has been on the National Register of Historic Places list since June 4, 1973.[2]

Episcopal Church of the Epiphany

Building in New Iberia, Louisiana. Episcopal Church of the Epiphany is a historic church located in New Iberia, Louisiana.

It is a one-story 34 by 74 feet (10 m × 23 m) building which was built during 1857-58 of cypress timbers and bricks that were made by slaves. Its side walls were reinforced by exterior buttresses in 1884, when a belfry was also added. It was renovated in 1959.

The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 29, 1977.[3]

Building in New Iberia, Louisiana. First United Methodist Church is a historic church located in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Built in 1891, the church suffered severe damage by fire in 1907 and was rebuilt by congregation to its present appearance. The Italian Renaissance style was created by decorating the original Gothic Revival building. Since 1907 the only structural alteration was the addition of an arcaded hallway in 1939, connecting the church to a newly constructed education building. A meticulous restoration of the church exterior took place between 1986 and 1987.

The church and the 1939 education building were added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 1989.[4]

Mill in New Iberia, Louisiana. The Conrad Rice Mill is an independently owned and operated rice mill located in New Iberia, Louisiana, and produces the Konriko brand of rice varieties. Established in 1912, it is the oldest independently owned rice mill in the United States still in operation.

Two of the buildings, dating back to 1914-1917 and 1930, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 10, 1982.[5]

Downtown New Iberia Commercial Historic District

Downtown New Iberia Commercial Historic District is a historic district in downtown New Iberia, Louisiana, located along Main Street and St. Peter Street, from Jefferson Street to Weeks Street.

The 68.87 acres (27.87 ha) area comprises a total of 121 buildings, of which 73 are considered contributing properties, and 9 are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as individual properties or as part of East Main Street Historic District. Building dates vary from 1870 to 1967 and represent relevant structures related to commerce and entertainment/recreation.

Despite being located inside the district area, the individually listed The Magnolias is not part of Downtown New Iberia Commercial Historic District, as the building is not commerce related. The house is therefore considered a non-contributing property.

The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 13, 2017.[6]

Building in New Iberia, Louisiana. The Magnolias is a historic cottage located at 115 Jefferson Street, in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Built in 1852, the house was modified in about 1920. In 1929 the entire house was moved and rotated 90 degrees, so that it faces Jefferson Street rather than Main Street. It is set back from the street and has modern buildings on each side. The building has a pedimented Greek Revival one-bay portico that is both massive and unusual on a four-bay house.

The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 6, 1979.[7]
