Guldensporen Stadion

Stadium in Kortrijk, Belgium. Guldensporen Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Kortrijk, Belgium. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of K.V. Kortrijk. In the summer of 2008, following the promotion of KV Kortrijk to the Belgian First Division, the capacity of the stadium was increased from 6,896 to around 9,399
The name Guldensporenstadion means "Stadium of the Golden Spurs," a reference to the medieval Battle of the Golden Spurs, fought in Kortrijk in 1302.[1]

Broelmuseum
Museum. The Broel Museum was an art museum, focusing on classical and applied arts of the 18th - 19th century. It was located on the Buda Island in Kortrijk, Belgium. The building was a converted 18th-century neoclassical mansion, located at 6 Broelkaai. The Treaty of Kortrijk was signed here in 1820. Since the end of 2014, the museum has closed its doors due to a lack of visitors. Under the name of 'Broelkaai 6', the location is being turned into a platform for visual arts, and is scheduled to reopen in 2018. It was the intention to merge the collection of the closed Broel Museum with that of the museum Kortrijk 1302 which is dedicated to the history of the Battle of the Golden Spurs.[2]

Belfry of Kortrijk

Tower in Kortrijk, Belgium. The belfry of Kortrijk, or Belfort in Dutch, is a medieval bell tower in the historical centre of Kortrijk, Belgium. One of the city's most prominent symbols, the belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives, and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other danger. A narrow, steep staircase, accessible by the public without any entry fee, leads to the top of the building, which nowadays leans about a bit to the west. In 1999, the belfry was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France site, in recognition of the civil, not religious, importance and architecture of the belfries in the region.[3]

Groeningepoort
Tourist attraction in Kortrijk, Belgium. The Groeningepoort is a monument in the Belgian city of Kortrijk. The triumphal arch was built to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of the Golden Spurs and gives access to the Groeningepark, where during the Middle Ages the Groeninge battlefield was situated. In this park you can also find the golden Groeninge Monument. The Groeningepoort was erected in 1908 and has the inscription 1302 – Groeningheveld.[8]

The gilded statue was inaugurated to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of the Golden Spurs. The statue is situated in the Groeningepark, where during the Middle Ages the Groeninge battlefield was situated. In this park one can also find the Groeningegate, a triumphal arch, which gives access to the park.
The Groeninge Monument was designed by sculptor Godfried Devreese. It was planned to be inaugurated in 1902, but was not ready until 1906, when it was unveiled on 5 August. The gilded statue represents the Virgin of Flanders, who holds aloft a spear whilst holding in the other the Flemish Lion.[9]
