Mountain in Colorado. Mount Yale is a high and prominent mountain summit of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,200-foot fourteener is located in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness of San Isabel National Forest, 9.4 miles west by north of the Town of Buena Vista in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. The mountain was named in honor of Eli Yale of Yale University.[1]

Church building in Buena Vista, Colorado. Grace Church, formerly the Grace Episcopal Church, is a historic Carpenter Gothic style church building located in Buena Vista, Chaffee County, Colorado. Originally built as an Episcopal church in 1889 by the Lannan Brothers, its Carpenter Gothic details include board and batten siding, lancet windows and door openings and buttresses. On January 20, 1978, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. On February 7, 2007, the church received of the Colorado Historic Society's 21st Annual Stephen H. Hart Awards for its restoration of the interior and exterior of the building.

In 2002, Grace Episcopal Church and the local United Methodist congregation formed a federated congregation with the approval of their respective denominational authorities. The United Methodist Congregation now styles itself Grace United Methodist Faith Community. Each one retains its separate corporate organization while worshiping together. Services on the first and third Sundays are led by a United Methodist minister while services are the second and third Sundays are led by an Episcopal priest.[2]

Jacobs Building

The Jacobs Building, at 414 Main St. in Buena Vista, Colorado, was built in 1888. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. The listing included two contributing buildings and a contributing structure, with one apparently being a jailhouse.

It has served as a restaurant and hotel, and has been known as Johnson Building and as Mother's Bistro.

In 2019, the Historic Preservation Commission of Buena Vista was considering an application to list "the Jailhouse Building located at 412 E. Main Street as a local historic building subject to the requirements of Section 19 of the Town of Buena Vista Municipal Code." The jailhouse building was covered in the National Register listing already; the local listing would strengthen local protection for the building.[3]

The Chaffee County Courthouse and Jail Buildings, at 501 E. Main St. in Buena Vista, Colorado, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The courthouse is a two-story five-bay brick building, with brick laid in stretcher bond, on an ashlar foundation. It was built after the county seat was switched from Salida, Colorado.

The jail is a smaller building. Both were built in 1882.

A different Chaffee County Courthouse, built in Salida in 1929 was designed by architect Walter DeMordaunt, after the county voted to move the courthouse back to Salida.[4]

Building in Buena Vista, Colorado. The J. M. Bonney House, also known as the Josiah Morris Bonney House, is an historic Carpenter Gothic house located at 408 Princeton Avenue in Buena Vista, Chaffee County, Colorado. Built in 1883, it was named for Josiah Morris Bonney, who founded the First National Bank of Buena Vista, whose building at 210 East Main Street built the same year, was listed on the Colorado State Register August 9, 2000, and is now the Buena Vista Town Hall. The Bonney house is a good example of the more ornate period of Carpenter Gothic architecture and has been well preserved. On December 19, 1994, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.[5]
