The Civic Museum of Belluno, opened to the public in 1876, is the most important museum in the city. It is located, as far as its art-historical collections are concerned, at Palazzo Fulcis, while until 2016 it was located in the 17th-century Palazzo dei Giuristi. It houses paintings from the 14th to the 19th century, drawings and prints, bronze plaques, sculptures, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as art objects such as porcelain, carpets, tapestries, glassware, and a jewelry collection. In contrast, the archaeological collection, consisting of artifacts that can be placed from the Middle Paleolithic to the Early Middle Ages, still remains at the Palazzo dei Giuristi location, while in the future it will be placed at Palazzo Bembo, formerly the Civil Hospital, which is currently being restored.
