Our Lady of Victories Cathedral

Cathedral in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church and serves as the cathedral of the metropolitan archdiocese of Yaoundé in Cameroon. It is located in the center of the city in the rotunda of the central post office.

It has a stunning architecture, and a large number of seats, with space for around 5,000 worshippers, and an interior cross-shaped. After more than 50 years of existence, the construction of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victories in Yaounde is not over yet. This is one of the most significant places in the capital, and was consecrated in 1955.[1]

The basilica is under the circumscription of the Archdiocese of Yaoundé. The basilica is built on the site of the first church built by the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in Cameroon. The church was dedicated on March 2, 2006.[2]

It is administered by the country's Ministry of Forestry and Fauna, and there is a wide range of species at the zoo, including big cats, reptiles, and birds of prey. Ape Action Africa has taken responsibility for the care of the primates at the zoo.[3]

Museum in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Blackitude Museum is an ethnographic museum in Yaoundé; Cameroon. The museum project began in March 1998 from a commitment of its founding president Her Majesty Ngo Nab. Fo I NANA Agnes Sunjio through her deep desire to save what remains of the artistic heritage in Cameroon. As a member of the royal family Bahouoc, she carefully protected and preserved collections of art objects which were bequeathed by both her father and by kings of other chiefdoms, such as Bamileke Plateau of western Cameroon.[4]

Historical landmark in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Cameroon's Reunification Monument was constructed in the 1970s to memorialize the post-colonial merging of British and French Cameroon. Located in Yaounde, its architects are Gedeon Mpondo and Engelbert Mveng.

Another reunification monument, albeit far less well-known, is located in Mamfe.[5]

International Relations Institute of Cameroon

The International Relations Institute of Cameroon is one of the five Institutions of the University of Yaoundé II; it was created by decree of President Ahmadou Ahidjo on 24 April 1971. The organization of studies at the IRIC was renovated in 1993. Up until then, the Institute essentially focused on training diplomats. The new curriculum gives access to other international careers.

The IRIC serves African and world diplomacy and advocates excellence, a philosophy otherwise underpinning its own overall performances. The IRIC takes pride on its status as the oldest school of diplomacy south of Sahara, and brings the perceptions and the experiences of countries of the southern hemisphere to the world community.

The IRIC has Observer Status at all assemblies and summits of the African Union. Observer Status means that the IRIC has full diplomatic and delegate rights accorded to a member state of the African Union, with the exception that it may not cast votes[6]

Public university in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The University of Yaoundé I is a public university in Cameroon, located in the capital Yaoundé. It was formed in 1993 following a university reform that split the country's oldest university, the University of Yaoundé, into two separate entities: the University of Yaoundé I and the University of Yaoundé II.

The University of Yaounde I, consists of:

  • the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (Faculté des Arts, Lettres et Sciences Humaines, short FALSH)
  • the Faculty of Sciences (Faculté des Sciences, short FS)
  • the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (Faculté de Médecine et de Sciences Biomédicales, short FMSB).
  • The higher teacher's Training College of Yaounde HTTC
  • The National Advanced School of Engineering
  • The Higher Teacher's Training Technical School of Ebolowa.

The main university complex is Ngoa-Ekelle with several satellite campuses elsewhere.[7]
