Reedville Fishermen's Museum
Museum in Reedville, Virginia. Reedville Fishermen's Museum is located in the unincorporated town of Reedville along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Northumberland County, Virginia.
Reedville has a long heritage in the Atlantic menhaden fishing industry, and the museum dedicates itself to preserving the watermen's heritage and that of Reedville.
The museum has restored some of the oldest homes on the community's "Millionaire's Row", where wealthy factory owners and fishing boat captains once lived. The mansions are now on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum also has two vessels, the skipjack Claude W. Somers and the deck boat Elva C., which were entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
Open for tours, the museum also has historical information about the menhaden fishing industry and the history of Reedville.[1]

Claude W. Somers
Claud W. Somers is a Chesapeake Bay skipjack, built in 1911 in Young's Creek, Virginia, by W. Thomas Young of Parksley, who also built Bernice J.. She is ported at the Reedville Fisherman's Museum in Reedville, Virginia. In 1977 Claude W. Somers was struck by a squall near Hooper Strait Light, leaving six drowned, including her owner-captain.
She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Maryland in 1985 and in Virginia in 2005. She is an exhibit at the Reedville Fishermen's Museum in Reedville, Virginia. She is assigned Maryland dredge number 55.[2]
Elva C
Boat. Elva C is a Chesapeake Bay deck boat, built in 1922 by Gilbert White, one of Virginia's best-known deck boat builders. She worked in fish trapping and in hauling. At one time, she hauled watermelons from North Carolina to Baltimore. She is ported at the Reedville Fisherman's Museum in Reedville, Virginia.
She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.[3]
Shalango
Historical landmark in Northumberland County, Virginia. Shalango is a historic plantation house located at Wicomico Church, Northumberland County, Virginia. It was built in 1855–1856, and is a large 2 1/2-story, five bay, I-house frame dwelling. It has a single-pile, central-passage plan and interior end chimneys. The house stands on a tall brick basement and is covered with a gable roof pierced by three dormers on either slope. The front facade features a one-story late 19th-century porch with scroll-sawn decoration.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.[4]
