Temple Beth Israel
Synagogue in Plattsburgh, New York. Temple Beth Israel is a Reform synagogue located at One Bowman Street in Plattsburgh, New York. Established in 1861, it served Plattsburgh's Jewish population and itinerant Jewish tradesmen in the region. After worshiping in temporary locations, the congregation acquired its first permanent home on Oak Street in 1866. Beth Israel adopted Reform services in 1910, and joined the Union for Reform Judaism in 1913.
The current building at 1 Bowman Street was completed in 1971, and houses a number of notable works of art by Marc Chagall, Ben Shahn and Frank Eliscu. Eric Slaton served as rabbi from 1985 to 1988, and Carla Freedman from 1990 to 1997;Freedman was the first Canadian woman to become a rabbi, and the first woman ordained at Hebrew Union College to become a grandmother. Freedman was followed as rabbi by David Steinberg (1999–2005), Heidi Waldmann (2005-2008), Andrew Goodman (2008–2010), Emma Gottlieb (2010–2012), Kari Tuling (2012–2017), and David Kominsky.
Temple Beth Israel is the only synagogue in New York State north of Glens Falls that has a full-time rabbi. As of 2020, Kominsky was the synagogue's rabbi.[1]

Strand Theater
Theater in Plattsburgh, New York. Strand Theater, now called the Strand Center Theatre, is a historic theater located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built in 1924 as the premier theater in Plattsburgh and designed in the Classical Revival style. It consists of a vestibule, main lobby, mezzanine, auditorium, and stage with supporting spaces. It has seating for 950 people.
It was in continuous use as a movie theater until 2005, when it was purchased by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA) with the goal of restoring it to its historic grandeur. This restoration took 10 years and $4 million to complete. In 2014 the NCCCA changed its legal name to The Strand Center for the Arts which includes this beautiful Strand Center Theatre but also the Federal Building next door which houses administration, gallery space and arts education classes.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.[2]

City Hall
Building in Plattsburgh, New York. Plattsburgh City Hall is an historic government building located at City Hall Place in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It was designed by architect John Russell Pope and constructed in 1917. It is a three-story, steel frame, limestone clad building in the Classical Revival style. It features a projecting entrance portico with six Doric order columns and a low central dome.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1973.[3]

First Presbyterian Church
Church in Plattsburgh, New York. First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 34 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It was originally built between 1812 and 1816; after a fire destroyed the structure in 1867, it was rebuilt in the same location between 1868 and 1873. It is a rectangular limestone Gothic Revival style church. It has a slate gable roof and buttresses. It features arched openings and a central square bell tower with tall spire and embedded clocks on each side.
The congregation officially formed in 1797, after having met since at least 1792. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[4]

Hawkins Hall
Hawkins Hall is a historic institutional building located on the campus of State University of New York at Plattsburgh at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York, USA. It was designed by the state architect William E. Haugaard and built in 1932. It is a two-story stone structure with five-story and two-story towers in the Late Gothic Revival style. The entrances feature large wooden paneled doors with semi-circular transoms. It was built for the state Normal School at Plattsburgh to replace a structure destroyed by fire in 1929. It is named for Dr. George Hawkins, who was principal of the Normal School from 1898 to 1932, in 1955.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[5]

Clinton County Courthouse Complex
Courthouse. The Clinton County Courthouse Complex is a historic county government and courthouse site located at 135 Margaret Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. The main courthouse was constructed in 1889. It is a two-story, ashlar stone and brick Richardsonian Romanesque style building. It has a hipped roof and rock-faced arched openings. It features a large, square central tower with an open campanile and pyramidal roof. The associated Surrogate's Building was built in 1884–1885, and is a two-story, Italianate style brick building with a bracketed cornice with Renaissance style detail.
The courthouse complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1982.[8]
