The monastery church of St. Anne was the church of the Franciscan convent in Kamenz. After the abolition of the monastery, it was used for the Protestant worship of the Sorbian inhabitants. Since August 2011, the space has served both ecclesiastical purposes, concerts and events, and, under the name Klosterkirche und Sakralmuseum St. Annen, the presentation of sacred works of art from the churches of Kamenz. A discreet new annex is used by the tourist information office. The "exemplary cooperation between church community and municipality" in this regard, the "striking combination of old and new architectural language" and the "rich, yet nobly restrained presentation of several winged altars and precious furnishings" were recognized in 2014 with the 1st prize of the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments in Germany.

With the late Gothic winged altars of the Annenkirche as well as of St. Marien and St. Just, Kamenz together with the nearby monastery of St. Marienstern forms a double station of the "Via Sacra".
