Statue of Abraham Lincoln
Historical place in Jefferson, Iowa. The Lincoln Statue is an historic structure located on the grounds of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson, Iowa, United States. It was erected in 1918, and individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. In 2011 it was included as a contributing property in the Jefferson Square Commercial Historic District.[1]

Greene County Courthouse
Courthouse. The Greene County Courthouse, located in Jefferson, Iowa, United States, was built in 1918. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource. In 2011, it was included as a contributing property in the Jefferson Square Commercial Historic District. The courthouse is the third structure to house court functions and county administration. The courthouse features the Mahany Tower, a 120 feet bell tower.[2]
George H. Gallup House
Building in Jefferson, Iowa. The George H. Gallup House built in 1901 is an historic octagonal house located at 703 South Chestnut Street in Jefferson, Iowa, United States. It was the birthplace and boyhood home of Dr. George Horace Gallup, the pioneer of public opinion polling. On July 18, 1985, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
George H. Gallup was committed to the octagon house, having built three of them. The first was built in 1893 on North Elm Street in Jefferson. It featured Queen Anne detailing, and it was somewhat asymmetrical because of its porch and bay placement. He sold this house in 1899 and began building a second one. Gallup began building his third and final octagon house in 1901 and completed it the following year. It was in this house that his son George was born and raised. The 2½-story frame house is built on a rubble coursed stone foundation. Its eight sides are 16 feet (4.9 m) wide and covered with clapboard siding. The house is capped with a truncated octagonal roof. It has been recently renovated and is available for rent to individuals and groups.[3]

The Lincoln Highway in Greene County, Iowa is a multiple property submission to the National Register of Historic Places, which was approved on March 29, 1993. It includes five individual listings and five historic districts located in Greene County, Iowa, United States. They encompass abandoned sections of dirt roads, paved sections that are now part of other highways, and various sites, objects, structures and pieces of infrastructure that were a part of the Lincoln Highway. The years of historical significance are 1912 to 1928.[4]
