St. Joseph's Catholic Church

Church in Jasper, Indiana. St. Joseph Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana, in the Diocese of Evansville. It is noted for its historic church located at 1215 N. Newton Street.

The community was founded in 1837 by Fr. Joseph Kundek, a missionary priest from Croatia, and met in a log cabin before moving to a brick structure in 1841. The current church was built through the efforts of Fr. Fidelis Maute, OSB, who served as architect and builder as well as pastor. Work began in 1867 and was completed in 1880, and the building was consecrated in 1888.[1]

Courthouse in Jasper, Indiana. Dubois County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. It was designed by the architectural firm Milburn & Heister and built between 1909 and 1911. It is a three-story, Classical Revival style reinforced concrete and masonry building. It features a cupola that rises 100 feet high and pedimented porticos with Ionic order columns. Also on the property is the contributing Soldiers and Sailors Monument erected in 1894.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.[2]

Gramelspacher–Gutzweiler House is a historic home located at Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. It was built in 1849, and is a two-story, five bay by three bay, Federal style brick dwelling on a high fieldstone basement. It has a gable roof and features stepped gable ends with six levels of corbiesteps.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Jasper-Dubois County Public Library bought the home in 2012 and converted it into their administrative offices.[3]

Louis H. Sturm Hardware Store is a historic commercial building located at Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. It was built about 1850, and is a three-story, three-bay, Italianate-style brick building. It houses the oldest continuously operated commercial retail business in Jasper.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.[4]
