Burg Röthgen

Röthgen Castle, also called Merötgen Castle, gave its name to the Röthgen district of the same name in Eschweiler, North Rhine-Westphalia. Located in Burgstraße, it is a typical Lower Rhine moated castle, with the majority of its building fabric dating from the early 16th century.

Nowadays the facility is used as a residence of the owners and as a riding school and boarding stable.

Nothberger Burg

Nothberg Castle, now a ruin, is a historic donjon castle in the Eschweiler district of Nothberg, Germany. It has four round corner towers, an oriel, and a front castle now used for agriculture. The earliest known documented owner of Nothberg Castle was Edmund von Engelsdorf, who was enfeoffed with the castle in 1361 by Duke Wilhelm II of Jülich.

The Eschweiler Jewish Cemetery is located in the city center of Eschweiler at the corner of Talstraße and Grachtstraße in the city region of Aachen.

The cemetery was occupied between 1820 and 1941. Today there are still 80 gravestones (mazewot).

Between 1942 and 1945 the burial place was completely destroyed. As a result, the dead were exhumed in 1956 and reburied in the cemetery in the Pumpe district. After protests by the Jewish community in Aachen, the cemetery in Talstraße was restored and the dead were reburied. The gravestones are laid side by side on the ground.

The cemetery is registered under No. 192 in the list of monuments of the city of Eschweiler.

Schwarzer Berg

The Schwarze Berg is a slag heap about 50 meters high, overgrown with mainly birch trees in the Eschweiler Stadtwald in the Aachen city region. On its top, located at 250.1 meters above sea level, there is a wooden cross and a lookout point, from which there is a good view to the east over the Eschweiler city center and districts of Bergrath, Hastenrath and Weisweiler. Its base area is about 20 hectares. There are about 120 steps leading up to its top and it is considered a landmark of the Eschweiler mining industry. There is a shelter at the foot of the stairs.
