Emporia Arts Council
Episcopal church in Emporia, Kansas. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a parish established in Emporia, Kansas on February 14, 1870, as part of the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas. St. Andrew's first building was constructed in the Fall of 1870 and was of a Gothic Revival style. In 1928, the original building was replaced by a larger Gothic Revival architecture building. St. Andrew's will celebrate 150 years of ministry and mission to the Emporia community in 2020.[2]

William Allen White House
Museum in Emporia, Kansas. The Red Rocks State Historic Site is a Kansas historic site at 927 Exchange Street in Emporia, Kansas. It preserves the William Allen White House, also known as Red Rocks, which was the home of Progressive journalist William Allen White from 1899 until his death in 1944. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976. The property, designated a state historic site in 2001, is operated by the Kansas Historical Society.[3]

Harris-Borman House
The Harris-Borman House, a Queen Anne-style house at 827 Mechanic in Emporia, Kansas, was built in 1897. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
It was deemed notable "for its architectural significance as a transitional, Queen Anne residence." It was constructed by Linley M. Harris (1835-1924), a contractor and carpenter, as his home.
It is a two-and-a-half-story, front-gabled house on a limestone block foundation and is about 25 by 50 feet (7.6 m × 15.2 m) in plan.[4]
Richard Howe House
Building. The Richard Howe House, located at 315 E. Logan Ave. in Emporia, Kansas, was built in about 1866–67. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
It was deemed notable for "its historical association with the development of Emporia, Kansas (est. 1857) and for its architectural significance as a rare, extant example of a first settlement period limestone structure."
It was built by stonemason Richard Howe (1825-1910). It is a two-story, three-bay, gable roofed limestone building with vernacular style, with elements of Federal and Greek Revival architecture.[5]

The Emporia Downtown Historic District is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
The district covers about 18 city blocks. Its 67 acres (27 ha) listed area included 115 contributing buildings and 52 non-contributing buildings. Two already-listed resources were included.
It includes a number of two- and three-story Italianate-style buildings from the 1860s, built soon after Emporia was founded in 1857.[7]

Established in March 1863 as the Kansas State Normal School, Emporia State is the third-oldest public university in the state of Kansas. Emporia State is one of six public universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents.
The university offers degrees in more than 80 courses of study through four colleges and schools: the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Library and Information Management, and The Teachers College.
Emporia State's men's intercollegiate athletic teams are known as the Hornets and the women's teams are the Lady Hornets. Emporia State competes in NCAA Division II and has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) since 1991. Since joining the NCAA Division II in 1991, the Lady Hornets basketball team is the only team to win an NCAA championship.[9]
