Hermannsdenkmal
Hilltop memorial to a Germanic chieftain. The Hermannsdenkmal is a monument located southwest of Detmold in the district of Lippe, in Germany. It stands on the densely forested Grotenburg, sometimes also called the Teutberg or Teut, a hill in the Teutoburger Wald range. The monument is located inside the remains of a circular rampart.
The monument was constructed between 1838 and 1875 to commemorate the Cherusci war chief Arminius (in German, Hermann) and his victory over Rome at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. When the statue was built, its location was believed to be near the original battle site, although experts now consider it more likely that the battle took place near Kalkriese, about 100 km to the north-west.[1]

Adlerwarte Berlebeck is a bird park in the Berlebeck district of Detmold. It was founded in 1939 by the couple Kati and Adolf Deppe and is today an institution of the city of Detmold.
Scenically beautiful and conveniently located on a ridge for bird flight, the Adlerwarte Berlebeck is home to 46 different species of birds of prey with a total of over 200 specimens. During the season, free flight demonstrations take place several times a day. A grandstand with 160 seats has been set up for this purpose. In a teaching and information center, interesting facts about birds of prey, the history of falconry and the tasks of the eagle sanctuary in the protection of species are conveyed.
