Hoosier Theatre

Theatre in Vevay, Indiana. The Hoosier Theatre is a 225-seat historic theatre located at 209 Ferry Street in Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana. It was built in 1837 as a warehouse and store to serve the town's large Ohio River traffic. Over the years it has housed a saddlery, the local post office, a tavern, the offices of the Vevay Newspaper, and a theatre, which it became in 1926. It was abandoned in 1955 and sat vacant until 1983, when Historic Vevay, Inc. a not-for-profit corporation was formed to purchase and restore the building. It re-opened in 1987 and continues to operate.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[1]

Courthouse. Switzerland County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana. It was built between 1862 and 1864, and is a three-story, rectangular Greek Revival style red brick building with limestone and white painted wood trim. The building measures 52 feet by 96 feet. It features a tall, pedimented tetrastyle portico with fluted Corinthian order columns. The building is topped by a copper clad dome with cupola.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.[2]

Benjamin Schenck Mansion

Benjamin Schenck Mansion, also known as Schenck Mansion Bed and Breakfast, is a historic home located at Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana. It was built in 1874, and is a two-story, Italianate / Second Empire style brick mansion on a full basement. The house has over 12,000 square feet of space. It features a four-story tower with a mansard roof measuring 74 feet tall. The house was restored in 2000 and is operated as a bed and breakfast.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. In 2020, the home was sold to tattoo artist Kat Von D, who announced her plans to move from Southern California to Indiana and live in the mansion.[3]

Edward and George Cary Eggleston House is a historic home located at Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana. It was built in 1837, and is a two-story, rectangular brick dwelling with a 1+1⁄2-story rear ell. It was the boyhood home of authors and brothers Edward Eggleston and George Cary Eggleston.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.[4]
