Courthouse. Rutherford County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Louis H. Asbury and built in 1925–1926. It is a two-story, Renaissance Revival style building faced with a smooth stone veneer. The front facade features a hexastyle portico in antis.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Main Street Historic District.[1]

Chapel in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. St. Luke's Chapel is a historic chapel located in Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, North Carolina.

The chapel was commissioned by Dr. and Mrs. Henry Norris of Philadelphia, founders of Rutherford Hospital, to serve its staff and patients, arising out of the Social Gospel Movement.

Completed in 1908, it is a small, one-story, frame, vernacular Gothic Revival style gable-front building. A one-story gable-roofed frame wing was added about 1915. It was restored in 1945 and again in 1965, and had its exterior renovated in 1991. It is the oldest building on the grounds of Rutherford Hospital, and the only remaining original building.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.[2]

Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, North Carolina. It encompasses 43 contributing buildings and 1 contributing object in the central business district of Rutherfordton. The district developed from about 1898 to 1945, and includes notable examples of Classical Revival and Colonial Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Rutherford County Courthouse designed by Louis H. Asbury. Other notable contributing buildings include the U.S. Post Office, the Norris Public Library, Rutherford County Jail, Commercial National Bank, Keeter Hardware Company Building, Geer Commercial Building, Southern Hotel Company Building, Geer-Warlick Motor Company Building, and City Hall designed by Milburn, Heister & Company.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.[3]
