Studleys Pond
Pond in Massachusetts. Studleys Pond, known locally as Reed's Pond, is a 29-acre pond in Rockland, Massachusetts. The pond is located south of Rockland Center on Route 123, 0.1-mile west of Route 139. The French Stream flows through the pond. Gideon's Island, named after Gideon Studley, lies in the southern portion of the pond. Thomas V. Mahon Park, a park which is owned by the Town of Rockland and is accessible from Route 123, lies along the southern shore of the pond.[1]
Rockland Trust Company Building
Building in Rockland, Massachusetts. The Rockland Trust Company building is a historic bank building and a branch of the Rockland Trust Company at 288 Union Street in Rockland, Massachusetts. The bank was founded in 1907, and was originally in offices across the street before commission this building in 1917. It is a two-story brick building designed by Boston architect Thomas M. James, a well-known specialist in bank design. A single-story addition was added in 1923, which was raised to two stories in 1947. A three-story addition was added in 1947. The original building and additions are all built of red brick laid in Flemish bond. The main entry is recessed behind a pair of massive columns, which are flanked on the facade by a pair of pilasters, which support an entablature that is topped by a brick parapet and granite balustrade. The bank's corporate headquarters were housed here until 2008.
The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.[2]
Grand Army of the Republic Hall
Building in Rockland, Massachusetts. The Grand Army of the Republic Hall is an historic building located at 34 School Street in Rockland, Massachusetts, in the United States. The hall was designed by local builder William Harrison Hebberd, andbuilt in 1899 by members of the GAR as a memorial to the Union Army veterans of the Civil War. It is a somewhat plainly decorated two-story wood-frame building with a hip roof. Its most elaborate exterior feature is the main entry, a porch supported by clusters of narrow columns, and with brackets in its eaves. The interior is more elaborately decorated, and has retained most of its original Queen Anne details.
On May 16, 1997, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places.[3]
