Museum of the Gulf Coast
Museum in Port Arthur, Texas. The Museum of the Gulf Coast, located in Port Arthur, Texas, specializes in Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast history. A 39,000 sq. ft. facility with its most notable exhibits are a gallery of Robert Rauschenberg's artworks and a Music Hall of Fame honoring performers from the region; featured in the latter are artifacts of Janis Joplin's youth. The Music, Sports, and Notable Halls of Fame house more than 200 people from the Gulf Coast Region who have made national and or Internacional achievements in their respective fields. The museum is sponsored and administered by the Port Arthur Historical Society, and is the descendant of the original Port Arthur Museum chartered by the state in 1964. The administration of the museum is done in partnership with the City of Port Arthur.[1]

Pompeiian Villa
Museum in Port Arthur, Texas. The Pompeiian Villa is a historic house in Port Arthur, Texas, U.S. It was built in 1900 for Isaac Ellwood, and designed by architects George C. Nimmons and William K. Fellows. It belonged to James Hopkins, the vice president of the Diamond Match Company, from 1901 to 1903, when it was sold to George Craig for 10% of Texaco. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 23, 1973.
The house is owned by the Port Arthur Historical Society, and is open for tours by reservation with the Museum of the Gulf Coast.[2]

Sabine Pass Battleground State Historic Site
State park in Port Arthur, Texas. Sabine Pass Battleground State Historic Site is located in Jefferson County, Texas, where the Sabine River enters the Gulf of Mexico. The site is the location of a significant Civil War battle.
In September 1863, members of the Davis Guard—led by Confederate Lt. Richard "Dick" Dowling—held off a Union attack at Sabine Pass, a key port for Confederate shipments of supplies. In a battle lasting less than an hour, Dowling and his men destroyed two gunboats, captured nearly 350 prisoners, and prevented Union forces from penetrating the Texas interior.
Today, the site is operated as a historic site by the Texas Historical Commission. Features include the 1936 statue honoring Dowling's feats, a monument dedicated to the Union casualties, outdoor educational exhibits, and a scale model of the Civil War-era fort and battle.[4]

The Port Arthur Federated Women's Clubhouse, at 1924 Lakeshore Dr. in Port Arthur, Texas, is a women's club building which was built in 1924. It has also been known as The Department Clubhouse. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

It served as
headquarters for a prestigious and progressive league of women's clubs which date from Port Arthur's founding. Clubwomen have contributed substantially to Port Arthur's social, cultural and political life throughout its history. The building was constructed in 1924 and has been used ever since as headquarters for clubwomen. Designed by Charles L. Wignall, a respected Port Arthur architect, it is one of the most pretentiously designed Bungaloid structures in town. The building's design and location in Lakeshore Park in what was once the most fashionable part of town are conspicuous reminders of the club's prominence in the community.[5]

Rose Hill Manor
Mansion. Rose Hill is a historic mansion in Port Arthur, Texas. It was built in 1906 for Rome Hatch Woodworth, who served as the mayor of Rose Hill. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.[6]
