The block tower in Nürtingen was built between 1430 and 1435 from Nürtingen riddled sandstone. It consists of a tower and a battlement. The battlements also connect the two city walls and their battlements, which abut the block tower. The tower wall has an outer circumference of about 23 meters and an inner circumference of 12.86 meters. The diameter of the tower is 7.34 m, its height is 16.90 m. On the first floor there is an inaccessible dungeon with calotte vault. Above it there are two round tower rooms, the one on the second floor has a vault. Above the tower rooms there is an octagonal attic with eight-sided tent roof.

Nowadays, the block tower is accessed via an entrance staircase. From the first to the second floor you can get through a battlement supported on stone arches. It has a total of five doors and five windows. The windows probably date back to the 20th century, while three of the doors are much older.

Villa Rustica Oberensingen

The villa rustica, a former Roman estate, is located in the middle of a new development area of Oberensingen, a district of the town of Nürtingen in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg.

During development work in 1988, wall features were discovered in the new development area "In den Seelen" in Nürtingen, which were parts of a Roman estate. The site is located on the southeast slope of the Nürtingen Galgenberg. In 1988, parts of the estate were excavated by the State Monuments Office of Baden-Württemberg, and the city of Nürtingen and volunteers of the Swabian Heritage Society continued the work in 1989 and 1990. The estate was built around 100 AD and later extended several times. The estate was surrounded by a wall enclosing an area of about 280 × 180 meters. This makes it one of the largest Roman estates in Baden-Württemberg. Immediately after the year 223 AD, the site was destroyed by fire. It is assumed that the fire was caused by an Alemanni invasion.

After the archaeological investigations were completed, the remaining wall remains were restored by the city of Nürtingen, with the State Monuments Office providing technical and financial support. The objects found during the excavations are exhibited in the City Museum of Nürtingen, Wörthstraße 1. Guided tours of the archaeological monument are offered by the Schwäbischer Heimatbund. The site is freely accessible to visitors. The estate is located on the Neckar-Alb-Aare Roman road.
