Battell Park

Battell Park Historic District is a historic public park and national historic district located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. The district encompasses two contributing buildings, one contributing site, two contributing structures, and one contributing object in a public park. It was established in 1881, and subsequently developed with a Soldiers' War Memorial erected in 1884 and Classical Revival style bandshell erected in 1927. In 1936–1937, the Works Progress Administration added a five-tier, cascading rock garden with a waterfall, small pools, and arched bridge.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.[1]

Public library. Old Mishawaka Carnegie Library is a former public library and historic Carnegie library located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was built in 1916, and is a one-story, Jacobethan Revival style, oriental brick building with terra cotta embellishments. It features a projecting entrance portico with limestone columns. An addition was constructed by the Works Progress Administration in 1937. It was built with a $30,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. The building no longer contains a public library. Since 1969, the building has held private offices, a private residence, and in 2018 opened as Jesus Latin Grill and Tequila Bar.[2]

Garth Stroup House, also known as the Merrifield-Cass House, is a historic home located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. The original one-story dwelling was built in 1837, and enlarged to two-stories and one-story wing added in 1867. The frame dwelling exhibits Greek Revival, Federal, and Carpenter Gothic style design elements. It sits on a fieldstone and brick foundation. It features porches with gingerbread trim. The house is thought to be the oldest dwelling in continuing use in Mishawaka.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.[3]

Dodge House, also known as the Claeys House, is a historic home located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was built about 1889, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, irregular plan, Queen Anne style brick dwelling. It has a tower, wraparound verandah, and hipped and gable roof.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.[4]

Eller-Hosford House, also known as the Donald W. Crawford Residence, is a historic home located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was built about 1875, and is a two-story, Italianate style frame dwelling with a one-story wing. It sits on a stone foundation, is sheathed in clapboard siding, and has a flat roof. It features large segmental arched windows, a full-width front porch with four columns decorated with lattice work, and cornice with paired large brackets. The house was renovated in 1979–1980.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.[5]

Kamm and Schellinger Brewery, also known as 100 Center Complex, is a historic brewery complex located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. The complex consists of the original Brewery Building, the Stable Building, and the Boiler House with a 262 foot tall brick chimney stack. The original Brewery Building was built in 1853, and is a four-story brick building with additions constructed about 1870 and 1875. It features an elaborate metal cornice, pediment and colonnaded cupola. The brewery cease operations in 1951.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.[6]

Ellis-Schindler House, also known as the Robert Ellis House, is a historic home located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was built in 1834, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, rectangular, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a front gable roof and is sheathed in clapboard siding. The house was moved to its present location and renovated in 1979. It is the oldest known existing structure in Mishawaka.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.[7]

Normain Heights Historic District is a national historic district located at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana. The district encompasses 224 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in a planned post-World War II residential subdivision of Mishawaka. It was developed between 1946 and 1951, and includes notable examples of Modern Movement architecture. They are in seven house types randomly scattered throughout the district and were designed for families with low-to-moderate incomes.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.[8]
