Grand Marais Light
Museum in Grand Marais. Grand Marais Light is located on the outer end of a breakwater on the shore of Lake Superior in the city of Grand Marais in Cook County, Minnesota, United States. It is located in USCG District 9.
The tower was first lit in 1922 and is still operational.
The original keeper's house on shore is now operated as the main museum of the Cook County Historical Society. The museum features exhibits on area history, industry and culture.[1]

When Cook County was first organized, county business was conducted in a trading post on a spit of land that extended into Lake Superior. The first real courthouse building was built in 1889 and was a 24-by-30-foot (7.3 by 9.1 m) two-story frame building. It later received a one-story 20-by-32-foot (6.1 by 9.8 m) addition. The original frame courthouse was seen as "obsolete, limited in space, and far too modest an expression of the county's future," so in 1910, voters authorized the sale of bonds to build a new courthouse. The new building, completed in 1912, was built in the Classical Revival style and features Ionic columns supporting a cornice. It stands on a hill overlooking the city of Grand Marais and Lake Superior.[2]

Historical landmark in Grand Marais, Minnesota. The Jim Scott Fishhouse is a historic building in Grand Marais, Minnesota, United States, built in 1907 by a family-owned commercial fishing outfit. During the fishing season it served as a place to dress and pack fish, while over the winter it was used for the storage and repair of fishing gear. The Jim Scott Fishhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 for having local significance in the theme of commerce. It was nominated for being a representative of the important commercial fishing industry on the upper North Shore of Lake Superior.[3]
