The Gallup Commercial Historic District is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

It includes "the largest concentration of historic commercial buildings in Gallup", in one- and two-story stores along U.S. Route 66 and W. Coal Ave.in Gallup. It includes 65 contributing buildings, one contributing structure, and a contributing object, as well as 26 non-contributing buildings.

The district also includes seven properties already separately listed on the National Register:

  • Rex Hotel
  • Old U.S. Post Office
  • Palace Lodge
  • El Morro Theater
  • Grand Hotel (Ricca's Mercantile)
  • White Café, and
  • Chief Theater.

The listing newly adds 58 contributing buildings and adds 38 acres (15 ha) to the National Register (excluding the area of the seven previously listed properties).[2]

The Lebanon Lodge No. 22, at 106 W. Aztec in Gallup, New Mexico, was built in 1932. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It is Decorative Brick Commercial in style. It was built as a Masonic lodge meeting hall.

It later became the Stronghold Church.[3]

The McKinley County Courthouse in Gallup, New Mexico, was built in 1938–39. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It was designed by El Paso, Texas, architects Trost & Trost. Its interior includes major works of WPA art.[4]

The Chief Theater in Gallup, New Mexico is an Art Deco-style theatre built in 1920. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was then occupied by the City Electric Shoe Shop.

More specifically, the style of its facade is a Southwest regional Art Deco substyle, regionally referred to as Pueblo Deco.[6]
